Peter Henry

(B. App. Sc. – Surveying, Cad. Surv., M.I.S. AUST)

Peter is the Owner and Principal of Baird & Hayes. He has been with the firm since 1984. Peter carries a Consulting Endorsement with the Surveyors Board of Queensland and has a wide experience in all tenure/title matters, development application processes and all aspects of the surveying industry. As an Australian Bicentennial project, Peter was involved in relocating the first survey base line placed in Queensland by surveyor Dixon in the 1800’s near Harrisville. Peter is very active in the local community, and has been President of the Ipswich Kindergarten Association, Secretary of the Rotary Club of Ipswich North, member of the Central Business District Traders and member of the Ipswich Cycling Club.

Office Staff

Lisa Smith – Technical Assistant

Lisa is the Senior Administration Officer at Baird & Hayes. She started with the firm in 1992 and has established herself as a well-known and reliable fixture of the office with unparalleled knowledge regarding lodgement and registration processes and requirements for South East Queensland Councils and the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy. Lisa is an active member of various Golf Clubs and can often be seen enjoying the Ipswich area while walking her dogs.

Paul Ellis – Manager

Paul is the Manager at Baird & Hayes. He commenced work with the firm in 2003 from a design and construction background and has developed a thorough knowledge base in Auto-Cad, As Constructed (ADAC), CivilCad, tenure/title matters, development potential and processes, development planning and efficient design for commercial and domestic sites. Paul is an active member of the Ipswich Community, with memberships past and present at Ipswich Rangers Rugby Union, Sporting Shooters Association and Ipswich Athletics Association.

Urban and Regional Planners


Liam Henry – Planner

(B.Ed., M.Urb.Reg.Plan., MPIA

Liam is the Urban and Regional Planner at Baird & Hayes, registered Member of the Planning Institute of Australia.  From a very young age, Liam was involved with the business – from painting Surveyor’s stakes and pegs to assisting the Planners in the office with their duties. His primary school education was carried out at Ipswich West State and also St Mary’s Primary before attending St Edmund’s College for secondary school. Prior to studying at UQ, St Lucia and graduating with a Master of Urban and Regional Planning, Liam completed a Bachelor of Education and worked as a Secondary School teacher both in Ipswich and abroad, in London, UK. Liam has traveled, volunteered and worked in many countries throughout the UK and Africa. Liam’s unique experiences in the Community/Education Sector, partnered with his passion for Planning/Development Consultancy, drives him to seek the best possible development outcomes for his clients and the community.



Shaun Verrenkamp

(B. App. Sc. – Surveying, Cad. Surv., Post Grad. Dip. – Surveying)
Having always lived in Ipswich, Shaun started full time at Baird and Hayes in 1991 and has been involved with the company for most of the time since then. Although working on a number of large developments like the Brothers Leagues Club Upgrade and the Karalee Shopping Village, Shaun’s passion is Cadastral Surveying. Shaun has also been involved with various sporting clubs over the years including the Musketeers Baseball Club, Ipswich Touch Football Association and Colleges Little Athletics.



Mark Forsyth

(Assoc. Dip. Surveying)
Mark started work with Baird and Hayes in 1989 as a Surveyors Assistant, progressing to Surveyor. He has a wide range of experience in Cadastral and Engineering Surveys. Mark loves to travel and is a keen armchair sportsman, never missing a Brisbane Roar game.
